Veritas Winery was established in 1955 by Rolf Heinrich Binder. The winery tradition is now continued by Rolf and Christa, as brother and sister winemakers jointly awarded Barossa Winemakers of the year 2005. In 2005 on the 50thAnniversary, Veritas became Rolf Binder Wines

The Hanisch Shiraz is the flagship wine of Rolf Binder Wines. It presents an intensely expressive Shiraz with full ripe body and deep ruby colour. It is a very big wine that takes a little time to open up and more than rewards the patient user.

The 2012 Hanisch Shiraz
The 2012 is an exceptional realease of this single vineyard Barossa Shiraz, maintaining its position in the prestigious Langton's Classification of Australia Wine. It is a wine that makes a great blue-chip addittion to any cellar, consistently rated as one of the best Shiraz wines in Australia,  after 2002, with all varieties showing strongly.

Vinification
In the winery cellar we like to let the vineyard speak and show itself. The grapes are fermented in one batch and the fermentation is managed for at least six to eight days on skins. The grapes are then pressed and the free run juice is added back. During the fermentation we will ferment some of the juice in new oak barrels for twenty four hours, and then pump this juice back into the fermentation. The barrel will be washed and then refilled for another fermentation. After the fermentation is complete we let the secondary malo-lactic fermentation occur naturally in the barrel.

In the January of the year following crushing we taste all of the barrels, and then blend together ‘like’ barrels. These blends are put back into oak for another twelve months, and then reassessed for final blending. The wine is handled with minimal interference and bottled after a very gentle filtering. 250 dozen produced.

“A deep red-purple, this is a very rich fruit-forward wine, showing some oak and spice. An immediate attack of fruit with depth. It is not overpowering, but harmonious, with a rich core of firmness that makes it stand out. A great wine with harmony and depth, and a lovely persistence of fruit.” Rolf Binder
